Traffic Tips for
Social Media Marketers

Anyone interested in using social media marketing to grow their
ecommerce business would be well advised to build relevant traffic on
Twitter, one of the most popular social sites around!
Here are some tips to help you build Twitter traffic:
- Produce fresh content on a frequent
and regular
basis. This doesn’t mean that you should tweet every hour on the hour,
because that kind of intensity comes across as weird. But it does mean
that you should contribute good content that correlates in some way to
your online business. This content should be of value to other Twitter
users! You should keep an ear to the ground for conversations that
relate to some aspect of your business and if possible, offer advice or
a suggestion to help solve some other user’s problem.
- Remember that Twitter is for all
intents and
purposes a social site, which means that you should engage and interact
with other Twitter users frequently. One good way to do this is to ask
a question that will spark interest---maybe even a bit on the
controversial side---and be an active participant in the ensuing
discussion. Besides asking questions, you should also strive to answer
questions whenever you have something of value to contribute.
- Make the most of your Twitter
presence. You can
do this by posting a link to your Twitter feed on Facebook, Squidoo
lenses and your business blog. Another good practice is to have links
to your Twitter page on your ecommerce website, along with your
Facebook page, blog URL, etc. These are great ways of leveraging your
social media marketing efforts!
- Work on building good relationships
with other
Twitter users! The more relationships you build, the more people will
be motivated to visit your online business and check it out, and the
more motivated these visitors will be to buy from you.
- Be selective about who you choose
to follow on
Twitter, and don’t try to accumulate scads of followers just for the
sake of pumping up your numbers. This will actually do you more harm
than good in the long run. Instead, focus mainly on Twitter users who
appear to have a genuine interest in your business, or who might have a
reason to visit your website.
